Gain tools to support your clinical work. Taking this course you will learn to

  • Diagnose Yin Fire patterns with clarity and differentiate them from other false-heat or excess-heat presentations.
  • Select and adapt Yi Qi Tang formulas based on a patient’s constitution, pathology, and systemic responses.
  • Explain the pathophysiological logic of the Pi Wei Lun and how it applies to modern gastrointestinal and fatigue-related conditions.
  • Incorporate Li Dong Yuan’s framework into clinical reasoning when faced with unclear digestive, Shen, or systemic issues.
  • Avoid common misdiagnoses and treatment mistakes in patients with complex deficiency-fire patterns.

Course Overview

This course offers a deep clinical interpretation of Li Dongyuan’s Pi Wei Lun, with a focus on Yin Fire pathology and the family of Qi-tonifying formulas known as Yi Qi Tang. We explore how these ideas directly inform treatment strategies for chronic digestive weakness, emotional dysregulation, and internal Fire due to deficiency.
Participants will gain a nuanced understanding of Yin Fire as a false Heat that arises not from excess, but from a breakdown in the normal containment of Fire due to Qi collapse.

The course carefully examines the following formulas:

  • Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Supplement the Center & Boost the Qi Decoction)
  • Qing Shu Yi Qi Tang (Clear Summerheat & Boost the Qi Decoction)
  • Tiao Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Balance the Center & Boost the Qi Decoction)
  • Qing Shen Yi Qi Tang (Clear the Spirit & Boost the Qi Decoction)

Clinical cases illustrate how and when to combine these approaches, especially when addressing complex patterns involving Shen disturbances, spontaneous sweating, low appetite, or emotional exhaustion.
