- Build a treatment principle in each trimester and for various conditions during pregnancy.
- Review and expand your knowledge about what is “forbidden” in Chinese medicine and the forbidden points in pregnancy in particular.

Course Overview
Treating a pregnant woman carries with it a great responsibility. For this reason, many of us were educated to abstain from different manipulations in acupuncture during nine months of gestation, sometimes without properly explaining those bans.
Nevertheless, how come Sp-6 is forbidden in many modern texts but recommended for weekly moxibustion during the first trimester in Japan? And why is Bl-67 forbidden for needling but is the most common point for a breech position?
In our experience, some treatments that we must avoid in one patient will be essential and even critical for the continuation of pregnancy for another.
The truth is, there is no consensus either on the full spectrum of forbidden points or on contraindications during pregnancy treatments. The safety of acupuncture in pregnancy is still debatable. And we will continue this debate during this lecture and present basic treatment strategies in each trimester.
This course combines our two biggest passions – teaching about acupuncture during pregnancy and diving into the endless world of knowledge behind acupuncture points.
