Course Overview
Jin’s Three Needles (J3N) is a set of 39 very effective acupuncture point combinations compiled by Prof. Jin Rui (靳瑞1932-2010), from Guangzhou TCM University. J3N is one of the state-recognized programs for continuous TCM education and is now used in hundreds of acupuncture and moxibustion departments in hospitals all around China. Moreover, it is regarded as the most popular and practical acupuncture point combinations system.
Generally speaking, the J3N combinations can be used as the primary combination to give the treatment a strong focus, a clear direction. And then it can be complemented by points according to your own choice, pattern diagnose, style.
For example, the combination Bi San Zhen (鼻三针), Three Nose Needles (LI20, Bitong, Yintang), is selected as the fundamental combination for allergic rhinitis, loss of smell (also after Covid), sinusitis, etc.. Then distal acupuncture points can be added to treat various patterns, e.g. LI4 + LI11 for wind-heat or KI6 + LU7 for kidney and lung Yin deficiency.
In each module, we cover the theory behind these J3N combinations from the perspective of the acupuncture classics and the clinical experience of Dr. Hui Zhang.
We look at the locations of the points, especially for some extra points and discuss the stimulation methods including needling, moxibustion, electro acupuncture, bleeding, etc. as well as possible modifications based on syndrome differentiation. Case studies and relevant research will deepen the understanding of this method.
