Signs of Jing on the Face

As Chinese medicine practitioners, we can support our patients in understanding how to manage their Jing. We use certain signs to monitor its usage and encourage people to access the Jing they have yet to use. Longevity is not the goal, but being fully functional and enjoying life while living long enough to complete your life’s work is the ultimate reward.

What will you learn

  • Diagnose signs of Jing at the ears and generally on the face.
  • Realize the development of Jing during life.
  • Aid your patients in managing their Jing and having a functional and enjoyable life.
  • Discover how the Jing can be preserved.

Course Overview

Jing is the first and easiest measured in the cartilage of the upper ear. The stronger and stiffer this area is, the more physical Jing someone has. Thinner, softer, and more flexible ears indicate less physical Jing, but with good Jing management, these people can still live long lives, although they need to be much more careful.

In ancient Chinese medical texts, Jing is described as fully present at birth but not yet accessible. Jing comes in regular periods based on each individual’s timetable and stages of growth. Modern neuroscience had also shown that the brain does not finish developing until the age of 25, around when the Chinese believed someone was fully grown and, therefore, able to read their face.
